Free five-year Detroit warranty for Sterling buyers
- Power Protection Plan (P3) - extended service coverage now at no cost
- Engine coverage for up to five years or 800,000 kilometres
Buyers of Detroit-powered Freightliner and Sterling trucks will now have even more peace of mind thanks to a new warranty agreement between Mercedes-Benz and its partner, MTU Detroit Diesel Australia.
As of March 2007, anyone buying a Freightliner or Sterling truck with either the MBE4000 or the 12.7 and 14-litre Series 60 engines will get Detroit's five-year Power Protection Plan at no cost.
The extended protection plan, which covers the engine and normally retails for as much as $3,500, gives additional warranty cover for up to five years or 800,000 kilometres (whichever occurs first). Customers will only pay the first US$300 (approximately AUS$380) of the total repairs performed for each warranty visit.
"When it comes to truck ownership, often the biggest concern for the customer is the engine", said Ken Matthews, Managing Director for Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles.
"It's the most expensive single component of the truck and the unit that requires the most maintenance. Essentially, this plan will give our customers complete peace of mind for the first life of the truck. We're delighted to be able to offer it at no cost to our customers" concluded Matthews.
The Power Protection Plan is an engine-specific warranty and is supplementary to the standard two-year/unlimited kilometre total truck warranty currently offered with the vehicles which qualify.
